Ladd’s Addition, Portland, OR

A Japanese Garden we built in the unique neighborhood of Ladd’s Addition in Portland, OR. Custom bluestone path edged with ceramic Japanese roof tiles, and a mix of lush plant species create a tranquil space in a small backyard.

Phinney Ridge, Seattle, WA

A drought tolerant front yard that is inspired by the work of Piet Oudolf.  Drifts of Salvia, Carex, Artemisia, Lavandula, Thymus, and more create an explosion of color. Beyond deadheading and cutting the perennials to the ground in late February, the garden is low maintenance and requires little water!

Alameda Ridge, Portland, OR

A colorful flagtstone paths cut through this xeriscaped parking strip. These dry streetside plantings need to be planted with tough plants (in this case asters, lavender, goldenrod, and other drought tolerant species) but it is a great way to expand your front yard garden!

Wedgewood, Seattle, WA

A large rain garden is circumnavigated by flagstone pathways. Drifts of Heather, Coreopsis, Ceanothus, Mahonia, Echinacea, Carex, and Bergenia will provide a nice ornamental drought tolerant planting.

NE Portland, OR

This garden was installed to allow an elderly couple to enjoy new colors and foliage year round.  The project included plantings, ceramic pots, decorative rock, and the installation of a steel sculpture.

Wilshire, Portland, or

Concrete paver and decorative pebble pathway leads through a woodland planting of Autumn Fern, Sweetflag, Salal, Hosta, Huckleberry, Epimedium, Mahonia, and Ajuga. This planting is a nice example of a way to weave native and exotic plantings to provide food and habitat for our local bird species.
